Financial year and key dates
Your financial year (accounting reference date, ARD) is the 12-month period your annual accounts cover. By default it ends on the last day of the month in which your company was incorporated – but you can change it with Companies House.
Your first accounting period is usually a little longer than 12 months. After that each year runs from the day after the last year end.
Where to find your real dates: search your company on the public Companies House register or sign in to your Companies House account. It shows the next accounts and confirmation statement due dates. Enter your incorporation date, year end and last confirmation statement date in Books Settings and the deadline list follows automatically.
